On Local Government Webinar

October 4, 2019
OLG

We would like our Indiana state and local tax system to encourage economic development.  Taxes should discourage business investment and job creation as little as possible.  We would like our Indiana tax system to be equitable.  It should not tax lower income people more than upper income people.

An organization called the Tax Foundation ranks states based on “business tax climate.”  Another organization called the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy ranks states based on “who pays.”  How does Indiana rank on these two lists?  Is it possible to have a tax system that is both business friendly and equitable?  What features of tax systems promote business investment and equity to lower income people?  Join Larry and Tamara on October for an investigation of state and local tax systems in Indiana and the U.S.
