ELECTRIC - 2014

THURSDAY - JULY 10 - 8:30 – 9:00 A.M. Project Check-in, 9:00 A.M. - Judging begins

State Fair Entries:  One fro Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, and Division 4.  Two from Division 5 - one electric and one electronic

Division 1

PROJECT COMPLETION:  Make a circuit board, Conduct a Hazard Hunt, Complete and turn in your record sheet.

 EXHIBIT: A circuit board (using kit provided, label parallel or series circuit.) Also turn in: “What I Have Done and Learned” at county project check-in.

 Division 2

PROJECT COMPLETION: Turn in completed record sheet.

 EXHIBIT: Make and exhibit a magnetic powered flashlight OR exhibit a poster on a topic described in the manual.

 Division 3

PROJECT COMPLETION:  Check circuits in your home. Turn in completed record sheet.

Make one of the following:

  • Build an extension cord using all new parts,
  • Build an incandescent trouble light using all new parts
  • Build a fluorescent trouble light using all new parts
  • Repair an extension cord or trouble light by replacing the cord, plug, connector body or socket handle with a new part(s)
  • Create a poster about: 
  •              Wire size
  •              Wire type
  •              Current carrying capacity
  •              The parts of an extension cord or trouble light
  •              An important safety-related topic
  •              Any topic covered in the Division 3 manual

 EXHIBIT At the county fair either: an extension cord; trouble light OR a poster as outlined in project manual.

 Division 4

PROJECT COMPLETION:  Complete the activities presented in the manual.  Make or remake a lamp OR make a poster or display board on any topic covered in the manual.  Turn in completed record sheet

 EXHIBIT: Made or remade lamp, OR display board on any topic covered in the manual OR poster on any topic covered in the manual and complete your record.

Poster and display boards should be 22"x28". The boards should be designed so that they can be displayed horizontally.

 Divisions - 5 and above

PROJECT COMPLETION:  Turn in completed record sheet.

EXHIBIT: Select one of the following areas for study: Heating and cooling, lighting, electronics, power, consumer buying, better methods – electrically, Careers.  Exhibit one article made, a written report, a chart, a diagram or photographs that tell a story, as listed in project manual OR one article or unit of electronic equipment.
