Many of our 4-H projects are exhibited on posters. 4-H members should be creative with their posters, but there are special rules that must be followed when making a 4-H poster so that you don't get marked down.
The 4-H aerospace program provides youth with educational information about aerospace that develops project skills (i.e., principles of flight, model rocket construction, model rocket safety) and life skills (i.e., decision-making, using science and technology, developing communication skills). These fun-filled, hands-on learning experiences are provided under the direction of caring adults.

"How to" information for making and using icing as decoration for cakes, cookies, etc. A project that can be done individually or in a group. This activity, which can be enjoyed by families and friends, also is an introduction to a money making skill and career.
Uses instructional materials that deal with young children at different ages (i.e., infants, toddlers, pre-school) and baby-sitting. Characteristics of various ages are studied and followed by observations and interactive activities.

The 4-H Computer project is designed for youth to engage in an interactive project to learn all levels of familiarity with computers. Learn life skills while gaining hands-on computer specific knowledge. First youth are introduced to how they work, features, and programs. Insects live in deserts, rain forests, hot springs, snow fields, and dark caves. This project will help you study insect and their relationship with people. You can also learn how to collect, preserve, and identify insects.
Fashion Revue is an opportunity for youth in the 4-H Sewing (Wearable) and Consumer Clothing projects to model their projects.

The "Fantastic Foods" curriculum series is designed to help youth have fun in the kitchen as they prepare different foods, do fun experiments, and go on fact-finding missions. The curriculum is designed around six major categories: healthy food selection, smart food purchasing, food safety and science, food preparation, food preservation, careers, and food around the world.
The forestry project will help you to learn how to identify trees, uses of trees, the benefits of trees, and the importance of our woodlands. A knowledge of trees and woodland management leads to a greater enjoyment of the outdoors. An understanding of tree characteristics will allow future landowners to choose the best varieties for urban or rural benefits that include cooling, wildlife habitat, and reducing erosion and other types of pollution.

A 4-H project is a series of learning experiences for 4-H members. There are over 50 project areas available for 4-H'ers to choose from in Franklin County. Many projects have manuals or books to assist the 4-H'er with his/her project. 4-H is a "learn by doing" program.
The gardening project introduces youth to vegetable gardening. Youth will learn about planning a vegetable garden, planting, fertilizing, different vegetable pests, harvesting, storage techniques and careers.
How to document your heritage through ancestral listing. The project can be done as an individual or group with a parent or grandparent. It helps young people know where their ancestors resided, traveled, and developed some family tradition.
This project introduces youth to the fascinating hobby of "rock hunting." Geology involves studying the earth's crust, its layers, and their history. Youth learn to identify Indiana rocks, minerals, and fossils.

Mini 4-H is a program designed to encourage positive development of children in first and second grade. The goal of the Mini 4-H program is to help young children explore friendships outside the family, explore the way in which things work, practice both small and large muscle control, and think about the ways people work together on projects.

Needle craft includes: Hand Work Knitting, Embroidery, Crocheting, Needlepoint, Crewel, Candle-Wicking, Chicken Scratching, Hand Quilting, Tatting, Huck Embroidery, Hemstitching; also Pulled, Drawn and Counted Thread Work and Punch Needle Work. The purpose of scrapbooking is to preserve. It is to help you remember a moment in your life in a special way. You will probably not be able to scrapbook every picture or every event in your life-but it is a great way to remember those very special times, people or places.
Participants sew garments or non-wearable items of increasing difficulty as they progress and build their skills over time. The garments range from simple items to a tailored suit or coat. Non-wearable items range from simple items such as basic pillows to duffle bags, window treatments, household organizers, etc.
The 4-H sheep program and related activities provide youth with a fun and hands-on learning experience which develops both sheep subject skills (such as nutrition, housing, and health care) and life skills (such as responsibility, decision-making, nurturing, and communications) under the direction of caring adults.
The 4-H shooting sports project teaches safe operation of firearms and archery equipment. Volunteer instructors must be certified at a workshop. Three disciplines are offered in Franklin County, they are: archery, rifle, and shotgun.
The 4-H Small Engine project creates the education and hands-on opportunity for youth to learn all about engines. In this project youth will identify and discover the function of different engine parts, learn compression ratios, and safety issues, and lastly tear down and rebuild an engine all while learning the valuable life skills 4-H emphasizes like self-discipline, self-motivations, and goal-setting.
The soil and water science project teaches youth about soil, water, and environmental stewardship . Learn about soil and water quality, how they interact, and how we can protect and preserve them.
Fishing can be a hobby and a source of study for your entire lifetime. The 4-H Sportfishing project will introduce you to fish, fishing, and aquatic habitats.

The 4-H Talent project gives youth a chance to showcase their special talents during a show/contest at the annual 4-H fair in July. Categories include: Vocals, Instrumentals, Dance and Novelty and can be solo or group acts.
