A pioneering state conservation officer and a leading advocate for sustainable farming have been named winners of the 2017 Women in Agriculture awards presented by Purdue Extension. After 45 years as a Purdue University entomology professor, Tom Turpin will retire July 1, leaving a colorful legacy of cricket-spitting, cockroach races, and ladybug-themed tuxedos.
