Young women who are interested in agricultural careers will have the opportunity to learn about their future roles in the industry at the Young Ladies of Agriculture Northern Indiana Forum. This event is open to girls and young women in grades 8-12 and is held in conjunction with the Midwest Women in Agriculture Conference. It will take place Feb. 22, 4-8 p.m. at the Swan Lake Resort, 5203 Plymouth LaPorte Trail, Plymouth.
Teachers : this new lesson plan from The Nature of Teaching titled Hellbenders Rock! is full of engaging activities to teach K-5 students about the endangered eastern hellbender, while meeting Indiana academic standards.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's North Central Sustainable Agriculture, Research and Education program is offering a number of grants for farmers, educators and researchers working on projects in sustainable agriculture. Individuals and groups are eligible to apply for the grants, which promote "ecologically sound, profitable and socially responsible farming and ranching," said Roy Ballard, Purdue Extension educator in Hancock County and Indiana SARE coordinator.
