The Extension Homemakers Clubs are sponsoring an Adult & Youth Open Class in Home Economics at the county 4-H Fair. This event is open to any adult or youth (including 4-H members & others) who is a present resident of Clay County or who is a member of a Clay County Extension Homemakers or 4-H Club, if residing out of the county. The committee is urging all interested people to enter.
Throughout Indiana, the Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program (NEP) works to make the healthy choice the easy choice where limited resource families live, eat, work, play and shop. We focus on 5 areas: nutrition, food safety, food security, pyhsical activity and food resource management.
The "Fantastic Foods" curriculum series is designed to help youth have fun in the kitchen as they prepare different foods, do fun experiments, and go on fact-finding missions. The curriculum is designed around six major categories: healthy food selection, smart food purchasing, food safety and science, food preparation, food preservation, careers, and food around the world.
